PILOT KNOB, MO – Today, Survival Flight, a company that provides emergency medical air and ground transportation for critically injured patients, announced that their air ambulance base in Festus, referred to as Survival Flight 1, will be relocating to Iron County Medical Center in Pilot Knob. The base relocation is the result of a new partnership with Iron County Medical Center.
“Survival Flight 1 will continue to provide lifesaving services to the surrounding community from our new location at Iron County Medical Center,” Survival Flight CEO Chris Millard said. “We’re excited about this partnership and look forward to continuing to work with first responders to save lives.”
Survival Flight 1 at Iron County Medical Center will be equipped with a full-time crew and a larger Bell 407 helicopter that has additional capabilities and a larger capacity compared to smaller helicopters often used in the industry.
Iron County Medical Center is comprised of a Critical Access Hospital with a 24/7 Emergency Room, a Rural Health Clinic and a Specialty Clinic. It’s been providing care since 2006.
“Iron County Medical Center is proud to join with Survival Flight and expand our capabilities to deliver life-saving care at critical times,” Joshua Gilmore, CEO of Iron County Medical Center said. “Survival Flight has a history of excellence here and we know our patients will be well-served.”
In addition to SF1, Survival Flight also has 16 other bases in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, and Oklahoma.
